India is strengthening its international engagement while promoting its textile industry and export opportunities. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita met New Zealand’s Minister of Police, Mark Mitchell, in Auckland to discuss matters of mutual interest and ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

The meeting took place during a business event organised by the India New Zealand Business Council (INZBC). Margherita highlighted India’s textile vision and its potential to expand global trade opportunities.

India Highlights the 5F Formula

During the interaction, Margherita promoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 5F formula: Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign. The vision aims to connect every stage of the textile value chain, from raw materials to finished products and international markets.

The approach seeks to strengthen textile manufacturing, encourage value addition and improve India’s position in global textile and apparel trade. It also highlights opportunities for businesses to expand international partnerships and market access.

Strengthening International Partnerships

Margherita arrived in Auckland after completing a visit to Samoa, where he met members of the Indian community and held discussions with the country’s leadership.

During his Samoa visit, India and Samoa also signed a memorandum of understanding for the SENESE Project. The initiative aims to support children and persons with disabilities through inclusive education, accessible infrastructure, audiology services and vocational training.

India’s engagement with New Zealand and other Pacific nations reflects its broader efforts to strengthen international partnerships. Promoting the textile value chain could also create new opportunities for Indian manufacturers, exporters and businesses seeking global markets.
