India–UK trade relations are gaining momentum as British businesses announce new agreements worth £1 billion during a major trade delegation’s visit to India. The initiative aims to strengthen bilateral trade, encourage investment and help companies benefit from the India–UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

More than 100 UK companies are participating in the visit, led by UK Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds, alongside senior government officials and seven mayors from northern England. The delegation is exploring opportunities across advanced manufacturing, aviation, technology and education.

The agreements include a £50 million investment by Meta for Data Technologies to support artificial intelligence research in the UK. Meanwhile, aviation services company Menzies Aviation expects its expanded presence in India to generate more than £600 million in revenue.

The UK Department for Business and Trade stated that agreements worth nearly £12 billion have been announced since the signing of the bilateral trade agreement. The latest business mission aims to turn these commitments into stronger commercial partnerships, investment and job creation.

The trade agreement is also expected to create new opportunities for British exporters, including Scottish producers of salmon and whisky. UK officials emphasised that improved market access could help businesses expand exports and strengthen economic cooperation.

The latest developments highlight growing commercial ties between India and the UK. As businesses explore new markets and investment opportunities, the trade agreement is expected to support long-term growth and strengthen partnerships across multiple industries.
