India’s total exports of merchandise and services reached an estimated $80.75 billion in September 2026, registering a 10.99% increase compared with the same month last year. The growth highlights the continued strength of India’s international trade, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
During April–September FY2026-27, cumulative exports rose 13.84% to $476.20 billion, up from $418.31 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
Merchandise exports recorded strong growth, reaching $259.89 billion during the first six months of FY2026-27. This represents an 18.51% increase from $219.30 billion a year earlier. India also recorded positive export performance across several industries. Electronic goods led the growth with a 70.44% increase, followed by other cereals at 49.88% and handicrafts, excluding handmade carpets, at 43.19%.
Meat, dairy and poultry products grew 35.18%, while petroleum products increased 31.9%. Engineering goods, chemicals, plastics and gems and jewellery also reported positive growth.
However, total imports of merchandise and services reached an estimated $94.05 billion in September, up 8.19% year-on-year. Despite this increase, India’s services trade surplus improved to $102.71 billion during April–September FY2026-27.
The latest figures underline the importance of export diversification and stronger international market access. Continued growth across manufacturing, agriculture and services could help Indian businesses expand their global presence and support the country’s broader trade ambitions.
