The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) has welcomed the reopening of applications under Round 4 of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles, highlighting its potential to attract fresh investments, generate employment and strengthen India's global competitiveness.
The Ministry of Textiles will accept new applications from November 1 to December 31, 2026. The revised scheme includes a lower turnover threshold and a longer-term investment horizon, allowing more companies to participate.
The scheme aims to boost domestic manufacturing of man-made fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics and technical textiles, encouraging the production of high-value textile products.
CITI Chairman Ashwin Chandran said the revised scheme, alongside the proposed National Fibre Scheme, would provide important policy support to the MMF segment and help advance India's ambition of building a $350 billion textile and apparel industry by 2030.
Meanwhile, India's textile and apparel exports recorded 17.51% year-on-year growth in September 2026, although cumulative exports during April–September 2026 grew by 2.38%.
