Saudi Business Confidence Holds at 56.6 in September 2026

Saudi Arabia’s business confidence remained strong in September 2026, with the Business Confidence Index (BCI) standing at 56.6, according to the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). Although the index slipped slightly from 56.7 in August, it remained above the neutral 50-point mark, indicating continued optimism across the Kingdom’s business sector.

The improvement in industrial activity helped support overall confidence. Saudi Arabia’s Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), compiled by S&P Global and Riyad Bank, rose to 55.3 in September from 53.8 in August. This marked the strongest improvement in non-oil private-sector business conditions since February.

Industrial Confidence Improves

The industry sector’s Business Confidence Index increased to 56.3 in September from 55.8 in August. Higher confidence in business performance and expected sales supported the improvement.

However, confidence varied across other sectors. The services index declined to 55.4 from 56.1, reflecting concerns about current and future input costs. Meanwhile, construction confidence eased slightly to 57.1 from 57.3 but remained firmly in optimistic territory.

Despite regional uncertainty and supply-chain pressures, Saudi Arabia’s business confidence has remained resilient. The recovery from 52.1 in March to 56.6 in September highlights continued optimism about economic activity and investment opportunities.

Focus on Sustainable Private-Sector Growth

Industry experts believe that future growth will depend on effective investment, stronger local supply chains and improved productivity. Businesses are also being encouraged to manage capital carefully and focus on sustainable returns.

In construction, the emphasis is increasingly shifting towards project execution, commercial viability and delivery efficiency. These priorities could support a more sustainable market and help businesses plan capacity more effectively.

Overall, Saudi Arabia’s September business confidence figures point to continued optimism, supported by stronger industrial activity and improving non-oil private-sector conditions. However, managing input costs and supply-chain challenges will remain important for maintaining this momentum.
